Department of Medical Law provides education on undergraduate stage creating conditions for requiring level of legal knowledge by health workers for their successful future as well as practical mechanisms of law implementation to preserve the balance of relations between subjects of medical relations and human rights in health care.

History

Department of Medical Law was created by the Order of Rector of University # 15 on April 30, 2013 and started on June 16, 2013.

Ukraine's accession to the Bologna Process has become a new impetus to modernize our higher professional education. The transition to the Bologna principles of education actualizes such an important issue as improving the quality of education. The positive experience of EU shows that the formation of highly qualified medical specialists in terms of higher education reform is impossible without knowledge of medical law. That is why studying the discipline is so necessary and important. The knowledge acquired by students at the Department of Medical Law improves abilities of future health professionals from the medicine and law. They receive the required amount of theoretical knowledge and practical skills for the successful implementation of medical activities which are based on the principles of human rights.

Department of Medical Law is an unit of Institute of Medical and Biological problems and located at Slovatskogo str., 2.

The chief of Department, Kalyniuk Nataliya Mykolaivna, PhD on Law

Education: Master on Law

In 2007 she graduated from National Academy of Ukraine by Ja. Mudryj (Kharkiv) and entered the doctorate of Kyiv National University by T.H. Shevchenko. In 2003 – 2006 she worked as a teacher of legal disciplines in Halych College by V. Chornovil and in 2006 – 2013 as an assistant of The Department of General Legal disciplines of Halych Institute by V. Chornovil. Since 2013 she is a teacher of The Department of Ternopil State Medical University.

Scientific activity: In January, 2013 she obtained PhD degree on specialty 12.00.09 – criminal process and criminalistics; forensics; operational activity; on theme “Tactics of Confrontation”. She is an author and co-author of 19 scientific articles and educational methodical publications.

Scientific interests: criminalistics aspects of the simultaneous examination of two or more previously interrogated persons; peculiarities of legal support maternal and child health in Ukraine.

The vice-chief of the Department, Sopiha Mykhaylo Oleksandrovych, PhD on History

Education: Master on Pedagogy

In 2008 he graduated from the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky State Pedagogical University by H. Skovoroda. In 2008 he worked as a teacher of the Department of Foreign Languages in Kremenets Regional Humanitarian and Pedagogical Institute by T.H. Shevchenko. In 2008 – 2011 he obtained the degree on “History and Law”. Since March, 2013 he has been a teacher of the Department of Philosophy and Social Disciplines, and since June 2013 he is a teacher of the Department of Medical Law of Ternopil State Medical University.

Scientific activity: In 2013 he obtained PhD degree on theme “Development of agricultural research activity in Ukraine and the Soviet Union in the first half of the twentieth century: scientific, organizational activity professor S.P. Kulzhynsky (1880-1947)”. Author and co-author of 13 scientific works including a bibliographical index, 4 articles in professional issues, 8 theses in materials on conferences.

Scientific interests: historical aspect of legal regulation of the institute of childhood and motherhood in Ukraine.

Assistant of the Department, Chornenky Mykhaylo Volodymyrovych, PhD on Medicine

Education: Master on Medicine, Master on Law

In 2007 he graduated from Ternopil State Medical University by I.Ya. Horbachevsky. In 2007 – 2010 he studied on internship, in 2010 – 2012 he studied on clinical internship on surgery. In 2012 he obtained the degree of Master of Law in The Postgraduate Institute of Lviv National University by I.Ya. Franko. In 2013 he obtained specialty “Organization and Management in Healthcare”. And in 2014 he obtained specialty “Proctology”.

Scientific activity: In 2014 he obtained degree of PhD on Medicine. He is an author and co-author of 50 published scientific works on medicine and law including professional scientific articles, patents, innovative offers, copyrights.

Employment: After graduating from clinical internship he worked as a surgeon of polyclinic in Ternopil City Children Clinical Hospital. In 2013 – 2014 he worked as a chief of Informational and Analytic Department of Medical Statistics of Ternopil City Council. Since September, 2013 he is an assistant of the Department of Medical Law.

Scientific interests: Nowadays he works on problems of development of medical law and education in Ukraine, functioning of private medical practice, mini-invasive methods of treatment of proctologic diseases (hemorrhoids, anal fissure, anal polyps etc.).

Assistant of the Department, Humenna Nadiya Volodymyrivna, PhD on Law

Education: Master on Law, Master on Economy of Enterprise

Scientific activity: In 2003 she graduated from National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (Kyiv) obtaining the degree of Master of Law. In 2005 she obtained the degree of Master of Economy of Enterprise. In 2003 – 2013 she worked as an investigator of Ternopil City Department of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Since June, 2013 she is an assistant of Department of Medical Law.

Scientific interests: In October, 2015 she obtained the degree of PhD on Law. She is an author and co-author of 18 scientific works and educational and methodical publications; and co-author of educational and methodical textbook “Workshop on workbook for classroom and extracurricular work on medical and pharmaceutical legislation, judicial Pharmacy, Evidence Based Medicine and Pharmacy”.

Assistant of the Department, Mahobej Kateryna Mykhaylivna, PhD on History

Education: Master on Law

In 2010 she graduated from Chernivtsi National University by Yu. Fedkovych. Since August, 2010 she worked as a teacher of the Department of Philosophy, Social Disciplines and Foreign Languages, and in 2013 she was transferred to the Department of Medical Law

Scientific activity: In November, 2015 she obtained the degree of PhD on History. She an author and co-author of 18 publications related to science, education and methodic.

In 2015 she graduated from Chernivtsi National University by Yu. Fedkovych. Since 2014 she works as a laboratory assistant of the Department of Medical Law.

Institute of Curators

On the Department of Medical Law education of students rights is an integral part of the educational process, which aims to replenish the society as qualified as well as highly moral individuals. The activity of the department is based on the principle of democracy, independence from political and religious organizations, the interconnection between universal and national rapport.

The work of the teaching staff of the Department of Medical Law is aimed to implementing the main directions of educational work with students. Faculty of curatorial groups conduct thematic lectures, parties, organize visits to Dramatic Theatre.

So, in September 18, this year the second stage of the charity marathon started, and we were to participate in. Our curatorial students and curators supported an initiative to collect funds to purchase electroencephalograph for free examination of children with epilepsy in Ternopil region.

In September 21, 2015 the Department of Medical Law in cooperation with NGO “Information and Legal Centre “Human Rights”, in order to form a successful personality of the future medical worker, organized interactive lectures on “Human Rights and Peace” dedicated to the International Day of Peace.

The students of the 1st course of Medical Faculty and the staff of the Department of Medical law took part in this event. The event was held within the healthy psychological microclimate, the atmosphere of cooperation, providing an interactive environment through innovative technologies.

In November 16-18 the Department of Medical Law in cooperation with NGO “Information and Legal Centre “Human Rights” organized the methodical exhibition “Everyone has the right to know his rights” supported by NGO “MART” as part of the national educational program “Understanding Human Rights”.

Prior to the tour, which lasted 45-60 minutes and included both direct information and training unit, and discussing the most important visitor on human rights issues, the students of curatorial groups were involved to cooperation. They are the follows: group 7 (curator Chornenky MV): Bazilyak Vitalina, Anna Komar, Royuk Tatyana; and group 17 (curator Humenna NV): Bashlyadynska Natalia Maria Myronyuk Yaroslav. Before the start our students attended a training seminar in which coach in civic education Kinash Andrew (Poltava) held a workshop on working with the materials of the exhibition.

In November 19, 2015 teachers of the department of medical law with their curatorial teams took part in the meeting of the teaching staff and students of TSMU with Auxiliary Bishop of Ternopil and Zboriv Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Theodore to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Greek Andrew Sheptytsky Catholic Church, held in the hall of TSMU.

Curators have educational conservations with their curatorial groups, in particular in November 19, 2015 assistant Chornenky MV held a conversation with the students of group 7 of 1st course of Medical Faculty on healthy lifestyles and bad habits.
